Emirates Extends Partnership with Sydney Symphony Orchestra Until 2028
Emirates has renewed its 23-year partnership with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, extending the collaboration through 2028. The renewal continues a long-standing relationship focused on connecting audiences through music, culture and travel.
The partnership, which began in 2002, is Emirates’ longest-running non-sports sponsorship worldwide. Over more than two decades, the collaboration has supported live performances, audience engagement initiatives and broader access to orchestral music in Australia and internationally.
To mark the renewal, an ensemble from the Sydney Symphony Orchestra performed on the tarmac at Sydney Airport in front of an Emirates A380. The performance featured Takeoff, a piece commissioned by the orchestra and composed by Jessica Wells for Emirates, inspired by aviation and travel.
As part of the renewed agreement, the Sydney Symphony Orchestra will expand its presence on Emirates’ inflight entertainment system, ice. A rotating selection of orchestral performances will be available to passengers, including works such as The Planets, enabling travellers across the airline’s global network to experience the orchestra’s music while onboard.
The partnership also includes continued support for the orchestra’s live concert program, digital initiatives and audience engagement activities, along with ticketing, hospitality and presenting partner opportunities across selected concert series.

The Sydney Symphony Orchestra performs more than 150 concerts annually, reaching hundreds of thousands of live attendees, alongside broader global audiences through recordings and digital platforms. The renewed partnership with Emirates will continue to support the orchestra’s efforts to reach audiences in Australia and beyond, both in concert halls and through digital channels.
