Emirates Group Earns Platinum Impact Seal for ESG and Sustainability Efforts
The Emirates Group has been awarded the Platinum Impact Seal 2025–2027 by the UAE National CSR Fund, Majra, recognizing its continued efforts in sustainability, corporate social responsibility (CSR) and environmental, social and governance (ESG) practices.
The award was presented by Abdullah bin Touq Al Marri, UAE Minister of Economy and Tourism and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Majra, to Adel Al Redha, Deputy President and Chief Operations Officer of Emirates, under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
The Platinum Impact Seal is awarded to organizations that demonstrate measurable progress in sustainability, governance and social responsibility while supporting the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and the UAE’s national sustainability priorities.
Adel Al Redha said the recognition reflects Emirates Group’s ongoing commitment to improving sustainability across its operations through practical environmental initiatives, responsible governance and collaboration with industry partners.
Sustainability Initiatives Across the Emirates Group
The Emirates Group continues to implement sustainability programmes through its Environmental Sustainability Framework, which focuses on reducing emissions, responsible resource use and protecting wildlife and natural habitats.
Key initiatives include:
- Fuel efficiency: Emirates’ operational fuel efficiency programme saved more than 98,000 tonnes of fuel during 2024–25, reducing carbon emissions by over 312,000 tonnes.
- Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF): During 2025–26, Emirates procured more than 28,000 tonnes of SAF, helping reduce emissions by over 93,000 tonnes. The airline also signed a memorandum of understanding with ENOC Group to explore SAF supply at its Dubai hub.
- Upcycling materials: Materials recovered from the airline’s aircraft retrofit programme have been converted into luggage and school bags. Around 4,000 upcycled school bags have been donated to children’s organisations across Africa, Asia and the Middle East.
- Plastic recycling: More than 88,000 kilograms of inflight service items have been recycled into new onboard products through the airline’s closed-loop recycling programme.
- Solar energy: Nearly 40,000 solar panels have been installed at the Emirates Engineering Centre, supplying around 37% of the facility’s energy needs and reducing annual emissions by more than 13,000 tonnes.
