Emirates shines a light on Diwali onboard and in lounges

In celebration of Diwali, the Hindu festival of lights, Emirates will offer festive treats and entertainment onboard flights to and from India from 17–24 October. Diwali delicacies will be served across all classes and select lounges on routes between Dubai and Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Kochi, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Thiruvananthapuram, Kolkata, and Mumbai.

Passengers in Premium Economy and Economy Class will receive motichoor laddus with their meals – traditional chickpea flour balls sweetened with sugar syrup, cardamom, and saffron, garnished with pistachios. First and Business Class passengers will also enjoy Kaju pista rolls, a cashew and pistachio dessert with dried fruits and silver leaf.

In Dubai’s First and Business Class Lounges, guests can enjoy onion kachoris, paneer potli samosas with chutneys, mango sandwiches, and Diwali sweets such as balushahi, kesar rasgullas, and gajar ka halwa. First Class passengers can choose a Spicy Saffron Martini or Chai Chat Latte mocktail, while Business Class guests have an Elderflower Gin Fizz or Berry Basil Splash mocktail.

In the Emirates Lounges in Cape Town and Johannesburg, where there is a significant Indian community, travellers can enjoy gulab jamun, rice pudding, and mango lassi.

Onboard, passengers can access up to 167 Indian movies, including Bollywood titles such as Laapataa Ladies, Crazxy, Jigra, The Lost Girl, and Apurva. The ice system also offers regional films in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, Marathi, Punjabi, Bhojpuri, Bengali, and Gujarati, 14 Indian TV programmes, and 40 Indian music albums and playlists.

This Diwali offering allows passengers to enjoy festive flavours, entertainment, and beverages during their travel.
