Emirates 2025 Year in Review: 10 Key Developments

Emirates marked a year of scale, fleet expansion, network growth, and service updates in 2025, transporting 55.6 million passengers on nearly 180,580 flights and placing orders for 73 new aircraft. While the airline celebrated 40 years of operations in October, the year was defined by operational milestones and forward-looking investments across its network, fleet, and customer experience.

Below are ten key developments that shaped Emirates’ operations in 2025:

1. Emirates A350 enters service

The first Emirates A350 began commercial operations in January with a flight to Edinburgh. By the end of the year, 16 A350 aircraft were operating to 18 destinations across Europe, West Asia, the Middle East, and Australia, with Montreal scheduled to join the network in February 2026.

2. Network expansion across Asia

Emirates expanded its Asia footprint with new non-stop services to Shenzhen and Hangzhou in mainland China. The airline also launched routes to Danang, Vietnam, and Siem Reap, Cambodia, via Bangkok, in response to growing travel and trade demand in the region.

3. Premium Economy rollout continues

Throughout 2025, Emirates increased the number of aircraft offering its Premium Economy cabin across Airbus A350S, retrofitted A380S, and Boeing 777s. By year-end, nearly 70 cities were served by more than 100 aircraft with updated cabin interiors, representing approximately 40% of the passenger fleet.

4. Starlink connectivity programme announced

At the Dubai Airshow in November, Emirates confirmed plans to install Starlink Wi-Fi across 232 aircraft, starting with Boeing 777s. The rollout is expected to expand to A380 aircraft in early 2026, with installations planned at approximately 11 aircraft per month.

5. Sports partnerships expanded

In 2025, Emirates announced nine sports sponsorship agreements and renewals. These included partnerships with FC Bayern Munich, World Rugby, European Professional Club Rugby (EPCR), Real Madrid Basketball, AC Milan, Olympique Lyonnais, the ATP Tour, and UAE Team Emirates XRG, extending the airline’s presence across football, rugby, basketball, tennis, and cycling.

6. Emirates Courier Express launched

The airline introduced Emirates Courier Express, a door-to-door delivery service using passenger aircraft for direct cross-border shipments. The service expanded to Australia and Germany in 2025, covering 10 international markets and handling over 50,000 packages, with average delivery times of 3 days.

7. Emirates Skywards marks 25 years

Emirates Skywards reached its 25th anniversary in 2025. The loyalty programme now has 37 million members across 190 countries and continues to expand its partner network across airlines, hotels, and lifestyle brands.

8. Aircrafted KIDS programme expands

The Aircrafted KIDS CSR initiative distributed more than 3,700 backpacks to children across Africa, Asia, and the Middle East. The bags were produced using upcycled materials from the airline’s retrofit programme and distributed in partnership with non-governmental organisations supporting education.

9. Accessibility-focused initiatives introduced

Emirates became the first airline certified as an Autism Certified Airline™, training more than 30,000 staff. The airline also launched an Accessible & Inclusive Travel Hub, expanded Travel Rehearsal programmes in 17 cities, and introduced additional onboard accessibility features across cabins and inflight entertainment.

10. Service and training investments

In 2025, Emirates opened Emirates First, a dedicated private check-in facility at Terminal 3 of Dubai International Airport, and launched the Centre of Hospitality Excellence in Dubai to train cabin crew. Additional updates were introduced across First Class, family travel offerings, and onboard amenities.
