China Southern Airlines Increases Sydney–Guangzhou Flights
China Southern Airlines will increase its Guangzhou schedule at Sydney Airport to four flights per day during the 2025/26 summer peak.
The adjustment adds 74 return flights and nearly 44,000 seats over the season, with services growing from 21 to 28 per week. The route will be operated by Boeing 787-9 aircraft, offering 28 Business Class and 269 Economy Class seats.
Greg Botham, Group Executive Aviation Growth and Group Strategy at Sydney Airport, said: “China Southern Airlines now flying four times a day to Guangzhou provides more choice for passengers travelling to China and beyond. The additional services will also support tourism and trade between New South Wales and China.”
With the increase, total seat capacity between Sydney and China is expected to exceed 53,000 per week by the end of 2025.
Jason Sun, Regional General Manager at China Southern Airlines, said: “We are pleased to expand Sydney–Guangzhou services to four daily flights during the peak season. The additional frequencies offer passengers more travel options and connections through Guangzhou to other destinations in China and worldwide.”

This year marks 25 years of China Southern Airlines’ operations at Sydney Airport.
