Buraq Air Commits to 10 Airbus A320neo Aircraft

Buraq Air, Libya’s first private airline, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Airbus for the purchase of 10 A320neo Family aircraft, marking its entry as a new Airbus customer.

The agreement was signed at the Dubai Airshow by Fouzi Almiqalh, General Assembly President of Buraq Air, and Benoît de Saint-Exupéry, Executive Vice President of Sales for Airbus’ Commercial Aircraft business.

Commenting on the agreement, Fouzi Almiqalh said the MoU supports Buraq Air’s fleet modernisation plans and network development. He added that the efficiency and flexibility of the A320neo Family will play a key role in strengthening the airline’s operations and supporting collaboration with Medsky Airways, Buraq Air’s strategic partner, to enhance the passenger experience across both carriers.

Benoît de Saint-Exupéry said the agreement reflects confidence in the A320 Family and noted Airbus’ commitment to supporting Buraq Air’s expansion plans as it introduces new-generation aircraft into its fleet.

The Airbus A320 Family includes multiple variants, with the A321neo offering extended range and operational flexibility. Compared to previous-generation single-aisle aircraft, the A320neo Family delivers around 20% fuel savings and lower CO₂ emissions, while offering a wider cabin layout designed to improve passenger comfort.

All Airbus A320 Family aircraft are currently certified to operate with up to 50% Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF), with Airbus targeting 100% SAF capability by 2030.

As of the end of October 2025, the A320neo Family had recorded more than 11,300 orders from around 150 customers worldwide, underlining continued demand for single-aisle aircraft in global airline fleets.
