Boeing and Alaska Airlines Announce Major Aircraft Order to Support Network Expansion
Boeing and Alaska Airlines have announced Alaska Airlines’ largest aircraft order to date, supporting the carrier’s long-term strategy to expand its domestic and international route networks.
The order comprises:
105 Boeing 737-10 aircraft, with options for an additional 35 aircraft, intended to serve high-density routes and replace older single-aisle jets in the fleet
Five Boeing 787 Dreamliner widebody aircraft, aimed at supporting long-haul services to destinations in Europe and Asia

Ben Minicucci, CEO and President of Alaska Air Group, said the fleet investment aligns with the airline’s Alaska Accelerate strategic plan and supports measured growth. He noted that the new aircraft will enable expansion to additional global destinations while continuing the airline’s focus on fleet renewal and operational efficiency.
Fleet modernization and network growth
The Boeing 737-10 aircraft will play a central role in Alaska Airlines’ single-aisle fleet strategy, supporting capacity growth while maintaining commonality with the airline’s existing Boeing 737 fleet. Alaska Airlines currently operates 248 Boeing 737 aircraft and has 174 Boeing 737 MAX jets on order. The addition of the 737-10 is expected to provide greater flexibility across its route network.
The Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft will support Alaska Airlines’ international growth plans. Designed for long-range operations, the 787 family offers fuel efficiency, extended range and modern cabin features suited to long-haul markets. Alaska Airlines currently operates five 787 aircraft, and the new order will bring its total 787 order book to 12 aircraft.

Stephanie Pope, President and CEO of Boeing Commercial Airplanes, said the order reflects the long-standing relationship between the two companies and Boeing’s role in supporting Alaska Airlines’ growth plans with its commercial aircraft portfolio.
Long-standing partnership

The announcement marks the 60th year of partnership between Boeing and Alaska Airlines, which began with the delivery of a Boeing 727 aircraft. As Alaska Airlines continues to expand its international presence, the new aircraft are expected to support the airline’s goal of serving at least 12 international destinations in the coming years.
Boeing stated that the agreement underscores its ongoing work in developing, manufacturing and supporting commercial aircraft for airline customers worldwide.
