Bintan Regatta 2026 Brings Together Sport and Culture
Bintan Regatta Highlights Coastal Events and Cultural Experiences
Bintan Resorts hosted the fourth edition of the Bintan Regatta from 3 to 5 April 2026, alongside the Festival Jong. The event brought together international sailors and travellers, offering a mix of sailing activity and cultural engagement within close reach of Singapore.
Participants from Europe, Australia and across Asia took part in the regatta, reflecting Bintan’s continued presence within regional sailing circuits. With steady winds and open waters, the destination attracts both experienced sailors and returning participants.

A new addition this year was the Passage Race, a cross-border sailing leg connecting Singapore and Bintan. This creates an option for travellers to combine both destinations within a single itinerary, adding variety to regional travel plans.
Running alongside the regatta, Festival Jong introduced a cultural element through displays of traditional wind-powered wooden boats that represent local maritime heritage. Together, the regatta and festival present a broader experience that combines sport with regional traditions.

The event also included the first turtle release of 2026 at Laguna Beach, where visitors observed hatchlings making their way to the South China Sea. This activity connected conservation efforts with the wider event programme.
Commenting on the event, Abdul Wahab noted that combining sailing with cultural elements reflects changing travel preferences, where travellers are seeking more varied experiences within a single trip.

Supporting this direction is Bintan’s growing calendar of events and infrastructure. With activities such as the Bintan Marathon and Triathlon alongside the regatta, the destination is positioning itself as a year-round option for travellers exploring Southeast Asia.
