American Airlines to Open New Admirals Club Lounge at Chicago O’Hare
American Airlines plans to open a larger Admirals Club lounge at Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD), highlighting its ongoing commitment to the Chicago market. The new lounge, located in Concourse L, will cover more than 10,000 square feet and replace the current Admirals Club in the same area, providing travellers with more space and modern amenities.
Designed with local influences, the lounge will incorporate elements inspired by Chicago’s character and feature floor-to-ceiling windows with airside views overlooking the runway. The layout will follow American’s updated lounge design approach, with defined zones, or “neighbourhoods,” created to support different traveller needs, from relaxation to productivity.

Commenting on the announcement, Heather Garboden, Chief Customer Officer at American Airlines, said the new lounge reflects the airline’s aim to provide a consistent premium experience across the customer journey at ORD, where American operates more than 500 daily flights.
American continues to expand its footprint in Chicago. Over the past year, the airline has expanded its network to more than 180 destinations from ORD and will operate more than 500 peak daily departures during the spring travel period. The airline currently offers Admirals Club lounges in each concourse at O’Hare, along with a Flagship lounge located between Concourses H and K.
Beginning in December 2026, American will further strengthen its Chicago connectivity with new nonstop service to Kahului, Hawaii (OGG), featuring lie-flat seating in the Flagship Business and Premium Economy cabins. Additional new routes to Allentown, Pennsylvania (ABE), and Columbia, South Carolina (CAE), are scheduled to begin in May 2026.

Admirals Club access is available to customers through an Admirals Club membership, qualifying oneworld status, or select co-branded credit cards, including the Citi / AAdvantage Executive World Elite Mastercard. One-Day Passes are also available for purchase with cash or AAdvantage miles and provide 24-hour lounge access.
Through continued investment in lounges, network growth, and onboard offerings, American Airlines is focused on enhancing the travel experience for customers flying through its Chicago hub.
