American Airlines Plans New Admirals Club Lounge at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport
American Airlines has announced plans to open a new Admirals Club lounge at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS) as part of its ongoing investment in customer services and facilities in Austin, Texas.
The new lounge will cover more than 12,000 square feet on the west side of the terminal, expanding the airline’s existing lounge space at the airport. The facility will also introduce an outdoor terrace, a feature not previously included in American Airlines’ lounge network. The terrace will offer views of downtown Austin and the airport’s airfield.

Heather Garboden, Chief Customer Officer at American Airlines, said the new lounge is part of the airline’s efforts to enhance the travel experience for customers in Austin while reflecting the city’s character.
Construction on the new facility is expected to begin later this year. During the development period, the current Admirals Club lounge will remain open for travellers.
The new lounge will include designated spaces for different traveller needs, including areas to relax, dine, work and recharge. The design aims to balance functionality and comfort for passengers passing through the airport.
The outdoor terrace will form part of American Airlines’ broader plans to update its lounge offerings with design elements and services connected to local destinations.
Travellers using the lounge at Austin will also have access to recently introduced partnerships, including Lavazza coffee and Champagne Bollinger, which is available for purchase across Admirals Club lounges.
American Airlines currently operates nearly 50 daily flights from Austin-Bergstrom International Airport to 11 destinations, providing connections for travellers across the airline’s global network.
Lounge Access Through AAdvantage

American Airlines has also expanded the ways travellers can access Admirals Club lounges through its AAdvantage loyalty programme.
For domestic travel, lounge entry is available through an Admirals Club membership, qualifying Oneworld status, or the Citi/AAdvantage Executive World Elite Mastercard. Cardholders of the Citi / AAdvantage Globe Mastercard can use one of their four Admirals Club Globe passes, which are valid for 24 hours.
Passengers may also purchase a One-Day Pass for $79 or 7,900 AAdvantage miles, providing 24-hour lounge access.
Travellers holding AAdvantage Platinum status or higher, as well as oneworld Emerald or Sapphire members, may access the Flagship Lounge when travelling internationally on qualifying itineraries in a Flagship cabin. A single visit pass to the Flagship Lounge is available for $150 or 15,000 AAdvantage miles.
