Alaska Airlines Unveils New International Routes and Global Branding Shift
Alaska Airlines is moving forward with its plans to become a global premium carrier by expanding its network, increasing its international reach, and improving the travel experience for its guests. As part of this international expansion, the airline will launch two nonstop routes from its Seattle hub to London Heathrow and Reykjavik, Iceland, starting in spring 2026. These new routes are part of Alaska’s broader objective to serve at least 12 intercontinental destinations from Seattle by 2030.
Alaska is launching a renewed exterior design for its upcoming fleet of up to 17 Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft, alongside route announcements. This change is part of a broader strategy to create a cohesive global identity.

“With these strategic moves, we’re advancing our vision to connect more travelers across the globe,” said Ben Minicucci, CEO of Alaska Airlines.
“We’re committed to providing a safe, thoughtful, and high-performing travel experience while expanding our footprint.”
Seattle–London:
Alaska will offer daily, year-round service to London on the 787-9, which includes 34 enclosed business class suites with lie-flat seating. The route is tailored for both business and leisure travellers, especially those from the Pacific Northwest, Alaska, and Hawaiʻi, and will offer greater premium seat availability and loyalty program benefits. Alaska’s existing partnerships with American Airlines and British Airways will enhance connectivity and travel options for guests.
Seattle–Reykjavik:
Seasonal summer flights to Reykjavik will operate daily using 737-8 MAX aircraft, suited for long-range routes. Iceland continues to appeal to adventure and nature-focused travellers and will also serve as a convenient entry point to continental Europe.
New Branding for a New Era:
As part of the airline’s international shift, Alaska is rolling out a new livery for its 787-9 fleet starting in January. The design draws on the visual appeal of the Aurora Borealis, symbolizing the airline’s evolving identity and broader global reach.

“The new look reflects Alaska’s transition toward international growth while honoring our roots,” said Andrew Harrison, Chief Commercial Officer at Alaska Airlines.
Legacy branding, such as the Alaska Native on narrowbody aircraft and Pualani on Hawaiian Airlines planes, will remain unchanged, continuing to represent each airline’s unique heritage.
