Japan Boosts Military Capacity
The Japan Self-Defense Forces (JSDF) has ordered 17 CH-47 Block II Chinooks with Extended Range capabilities to update its fleet, replacing specific CH-47 JA models. Boeing and Kawasaki Heavy Industries (KHI) will jointly produce the aircraft. Since the 1980s, Boeing and KHI have supplied the JSDF with over 100 Chinooks, establishing it as one of Japan's most enduring and successful licensed manufacturing initiatives.
