Air India Signs Partnership with Indian Army for Skill Development

Air India and Indian Army Launch Training Initiative for Veer Naris

Air India has signed a Memorandum of Cooperation with the Indian Army to support skill development, training and employment opportunities for members of the armed forces community.

The partnership focuses on creating livelihood opportunities for Veer Naris (war widows) and their families, while also supporting vocational education initiatives in Army-supported ASHA Schools.

As part of the programme, Air India will work with Air India SATS Airport Services Private Limited (AISATS) to create employment opportunities for up to 20 Veer Naris and up to 40 Veer Nari children.

Selected candidates will be considered for roles in airport operations, including customer service, ramp operations and load control. The initiative also includes vocational training designed to prepare candidates for employment within the aviation sector.

Another part of the collaboration will focus on improving vocational training facilities in ASHA (Army Special Help and Association) Schools, which support specially abled children of serving soldiers, veterans and civilians living in cantonment areas.

The programme includes plans to establish vocational laboratories in 25 ASHA Schools. Ten schools are currently part of the pilot phase, while 15 additional schools are expected to be added later.

The training infrastructure will support practical learning in areas including photography, music, sports, performing arts, painting, beauty and wellness, hospitality, electrical skills, tailoring and other vocational disciplines.

P Balaji, Group Head – Governance, Risk, Compliance and Corporate Affairs at Air India, said the partnership reflects a joint effort to support skill development and create employment opportunities for the armed forces community.

The initiative is also aligned with broader efforts to support workforce participation, inclusive growth and long-term community development through industry-led training programmes.
