Air India Opens Flagship Maharaja Lounge at Delhi Airport Terminal 3
Air India has opened its first flagship Maharaja Lounge at Indira Gandhi International Airport, Terminal 3, welcoming guests to a new lounge experience that combines Indian hospitality with contemporary design. The lounge was inaugurated ahead of its opening by N. Chandrasekaran, Chairman of Tata Sons and Air India, marking another step in the airline’s ongoing transformation programme.
Located at the international pier of Terminal 3, the Maharaja Lounge spans 16,000 square feet and can accommodate close to 300 guests. It includes dedicated Business Class areas and a separate First Class section branded as ‘Air India First’, with multiple zones designed to suit different travel requirements. Access will be rolled out in phases for First and Business Class passengers, Maharaja Club Platinum and Gold members, and eligible Star Alliance Gold members from 16 February 2026.
The lounge features several distinct spaces. The Aviator’s Bar reflects the airline’s early history, with design elements inspired by the 1932 flight piloted by J. R. D. Tata from Karachi to Bombay, and offers a selection of wines and whiskies. The Globetrotter’s Study provides a quiet workspace with books, charging points, and high-speed internet connectivity. The Serenity Area includes enclosed recliners for passengers seeking rest before departure.
Within the First Class section, the Crystal Bar offers sparkling wines, champagnes, and cocktails in a setting inspired by Indian design details, while dedicated sleep suites allow guests to rest before their flight.

The Delhi Maharaja Lounge is the first in a series of new lounges planned by Air India at major airports in India and overseas, as part of the airline’s broader plans to update its ground experience offering.
