Maharaja Lounge Expands Air India’s Premium Airport Experience

Air India has announced the opening of its new The Maharaja Lounge at San Francisco International Airport, expanding the airline’s premium airport offering in North America.

The lounge officially opens to guests on 23 May 2026 and is located near Gate A1 in the International Terminal at San Francisco International Airport.

Spread across 3,300 square feet, the lounge has a seating capacity for 80 guests and will be accessible to Air India’s First and Business Class passengers, along with Platinum and Gold members of the Maharaja Club loyalty programme. A separate private section has also been created for First Class travellers.

Designed by hospitality design firm Hirsch Bedner Associates (HBA), the lounge combines contemporary interiors with elements inspired by Indian hospitality and cultural design.

Facilities at the lounge include The Aviator’s Bar, social and dining areas, live cooking stations, tarmac-view seating and a dedicated private zone for premium passengers. The dining offerings include Indian and international cuisine, along with a selection of beverages and cocktails.

Campbell Wilson

Campbell Wilson, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Air India, said the launch forms part of the airline’s wider transformation strategy focused on improving customer experience across its international network.

The San Francisco lounge follows the opening of Air India’s Maharaja Lounge in Delhi and forms part of the airline’s broader lounge expansion plans.

North America remains an important market for the airline as it continues to expand its long-haul operations and passenger services in the region.
