Air Canada and Air Canada Rouge Flights Remain Suspended Pending Compliance with CIRB Order
Air Canada has announced that all flights operated by Air Canada and Air Canada Rouge remain suspended, as the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) has not directed its flight attendant members to return to work as ordered by the Canadian Industrial Relations Board (CIRB). The CIRB has also directed individual flight attendants to resume their duties immediately.
Customers affected by cancellations are being notified directly and offered options including a full refund, a future travel credit, or rebooking on another airline. Passengers whose flights are cancelled are advised not to go to the airport unless they have a confirmed booking with another carrier.

Since CUPE initiated strike action on August 16, the airline has been cancelling flights on a rolling basis. As of now, all flights are cancelled until 16:00 EDT on August 19, 2025.
The company noted that its planned restart of operations was prevented on August 17 due to CUPE leadership’s ongoing strike activity, which the CIRB has declared unlawful. The airline has approximately 500,000 customers who have been affected since the disruption began.
The airline said it regrets the inconvenience caused to passengers and is working to restore operations as soon as circumstances allow.
