Air Astana Group Signs Firm Order for 25 Airbus A320neo Family Aircraft

Air Astana Group has signed a firm order for 25 Airbus A320neo Family aircraft, marking its largest direct aircraft order to date. The agreement includes five A320neo and 20 A321neo aircraft and coincides with 20 years since the airline began operating its first Airbus A320 in 2006.

Peter Foster, CEO of Air Astana, said the order supports the airline’s long-term fleet development plans and focus on operational efficiency. He noted that the A320neo Family has been part of the airline’s fleet for several years, with the A321LR enabling extended narrow-body operations and enhanced onboard offerings.

The new aircraft will be deployed across both Air Astana and its low-cost subsidiary, FlyArystan, as part of the group’s fleet expansion and renewal strategy. The group currently operates 59 Airbus A320 Family aircraft.

Benoit de Saint Exupery

Benoît de Saint-Exupéry, Executive Vice President Sales of Airbus’ Commercial Aircraft business, said the order reflects continued demand for the A320neo Family in the region and reinforces Airbus’ long-standing partnership with the airline.

The Airbus A320 Family is a single-aisle aircraft range with more than 19,000 orders worldwide. The family includes the A321neo variant, designed to offer extended range and improved efficiency. Compared to previous generation aircraft, the A320neo Family delivers around 20 per cent lower fuel consumption and CO₂ emissions, along with cabin enhancements.

All Airbus aircraft are currently certified to operate with up to 50 per cent Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF), with a target to reach 100 per cent SAF capability by 2030.
