IHCL Signs Tree of Life Resort at Chilika Lake
Tree of Life Resort Expands to Odisha with New Signing
Indian Hotels Company (IHCL) has announced the signing of a Tree of Life resort at Chilika Lake, Odisha. The greenfield project marks the brand’s entry into the state and further strengthens its presence in emerging leisure destinations across India.

Commenting on the development, Suma Venkatesh, Executive Vice President – Real Estate & Development, IHCL, said that travellers are increasingly seeking nature-focused destinations and immersive experiences. She noted that the signing aligns with the company’s strategy to expand into destinations offering unique cultural and natural attractions.
Located on the banks of Chilika Lake, the 30-key Tree of Life resort will offer views of the lagoon and provide guests with a stay experience inspired by the surrounding landscape. The resort will feature an all-day dining restaurant, a bar, a meeting room, a swimming pool and a spa.
Sanjay Gadodia, Director of Scania Steels and Powers Ltd., said the partnership with IHCL will bring the Tree of Life brand to one of Odisha’s most recognised natural destinations while reflecting the region’s heritage and environment.
Chilika Lake is one of India’s most important ecological and tourism destinations. The lagoon is known for its rich biodiversity, supporting more than 160 bird species, the endangered Irrawaddy dolphin, and a wide variety of marine and freshwater life.
Recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site candidate, Chilika Lake attracts nature enthusiasts, birdwatchers and travellers seeking outdoor experiences year-round.
With this signing, IHCL continues to expand its portfolio in destinations that combine natural beauty, cultural significance and growing tourism potential.
