Handwritten Collection to Open First UK Hotel in Chester

Chester Hotel Joins Handwritten Collection Portfolio
Handwritten Collection has announced the signing of The Queen at Chester Hotel, marking the brand’s first property in the United Kingdom.
The hotel is expected to open this summer following a renovation and will join the growing Handwritten Collection portfolio, launched in 2023.
Originally built in 1860, the Italianate-style property was developed as a railway hotel for first-class travellers and has hosted notable figures, including Charles Dickens.
The hotel will offer 218 guest rooms, the V&A Restaurant serving British cuisine, a lounge and bar, afternoon tea facilities, outdoor terrace dining areas and a fitness centre.
The property will also include seven meeting and event spaces, including a ballroom with capacity for up to 400 delegates.
Located opposite Chester Railway Station, the hotel is within walking distance of Chester city centre and attractions including the Roman walls, The Rows and the city’s cathedral.
The agreement also marks the first partnership between Accor and LGH Hotel Management under a franchising arrangement.

Graham Dodd, Vice President Development for UK & Ireland at Accor, said the signing reflects continued growth plans for the Handwritten Collection brand in the UK and Europe.

Andrew Munt, Chief Executive Officer of LGH Hotel Management, said the partnership would support the long-term operation of the heritage property while maintaining its historic identity.
