Delta Launches Los Angeles–Hong Kong Route
Delta Expands Pacific Route Network With Hong Kong Service
Delta Air Lines has officially launched daily nonstop flights between Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) and Hong Kong, further expanding its Pacific network and strengthening connectivity between the United States and Asia.
To mark the inaugural service, Delta hosted a destination-themed departure event at Los Angeles International Airport, giving passengers a taste of Hong Kong before boarding. The celebration featured Cantonese-inspired cuisine, cultural experiences and commemorative gifts designed to showcase the destination’s character and heritage.
Guests travelling on the inaugural flight enjoyed specially curated dishes created by Hong Kong-born chef Jereme Leung, along with customised city guides and exclusive “Love HKG” tote bags. The airline also held a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the departure gate to mark the launch of the new route.
The inaugural flight carried special significance for Delta First Officer Victor Ngai, who was born and raised in Hong Kong. Before departure, Ngai welcomed passengers onboard and reflected on returning to his hometown as part of the crew operating the new service.
He noted that growing up near Hong Kong’s former Kai Tak Airport inspired his passion for aviation and described the opportunity to operate the inaugural flight as a meaningful personal milestone.
New Route Strengthens Delta’s Pacific Network
The launch follows extensive collaboration between Delta’s airport operations, flight operations, inflight services, network planning, cargo, revenue management and commercial teams.
Upon arrival in Hong Kong, the aircraft was greeted with a traditional water-cannon salute. Airport officials, tourism representatives, media and Delta executives gathered to celebrate the commencement of the new nonstop service.
The route further strengthens the airline’s position at Los Angeles International Airport, where the airline currently operates more than 160 peak-day departures to 61 destinations.
Hong Kong joins other recent additions to Delta’s Pacific network, including services to Melbourne and the return of flights to Shanghai. The airline said the expansion provides passengers with additional travel options between North America and Asia while supporting growing demand for international connectivity.
The new daily service links two major global cities, providing travellers with a direct connection between Southern California and Hong Kong and offering opportunities for both business and leisure travel.
