Orient Express and Chantiers de l’Atlantique have marked the naming of the Orient Express Corinthian in Saint-Nazaire on 29 April 2026. The ceremony took place at the Joubert graving dock, a site associated with France’s shipbuilding history.

The vessel, flying the French flag, is scheduled to depart Saint-Nazaire on 2 May 2026, heading towards the French Riviera ahead of its first Mediterranean season. The project brings together maritime engineering and French design, developed through collaboration between the two organizations.

According to Laurent Castaing, Chief Executive Officer of Chantiers de l’Atlantique, the yacht is the result of a decade of research and development, combining sail-based propulsion with energy-efficiency measures to reduce emissions in maritime transport.

Sébastien Bazin, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Accor, said the project extends the Orient Express brand into maritime travel, with a focus on design, construction and onboard experience shaped through collaboration between Accor and the shipbuilder.

Design and Technology

The 220-metre sailing yacht is equipped with the SolidSail wind propulsion system, developed by Chantiers de l’Atlantique. The system includes three automated sails designed to operate under varying wind conditions. The vessel also incorporates hybrid liquefied natural gas (LNG) propulsion and additional energy management systems.

Sea trials conducted earlier in 2026 demonstrated the vessel’s operational capabilities under sail. Additional features include AI-assisted monitoring systems and dynamic positioning technology to reduce environmental impact.

Onboard Facilities

The yacht accommodates 54 suites across four decks, with interiors shaped by French craftsmanship and contemporary design. Materials such as wood, leather and marble have been used throughout the spaces.

Itineraries

Following its departure from Saint-Nazaire, the yacht will operate in the Mediterranean and Adriatic regions between May and October 2026. It is expected to cross the Atlantic later in the year for a Caribbean season, with further routes planned for 2027, including Northern Europe and the eastern Mediterranean.
