Pegasus Airlines Opens Aircraft Maintenance Centre at Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen Airport

Pegasus Airlines has expanded its technical maintenance capacity with the opening of a new aircraft maintenance centre at Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen Airport. Designed with a focus on digitalization, efficiency and sustainability, the facility strengthens the airline’s operational capabilities and supports the maintenance requirements of its narrow-body fleet.

The new centre enables the simultaneous maintenance of up to five narrow-body aircraft in its initial phase. The project represents an investment of approximately US$40 million and aims to optimize maintenance timelines and resources, improve operational efficiency, and reduce maintenance-related aircraft downtime.

Construction of the project began in January 2025 and was completed within one year. In the first phase, two maintenance hangars capable of supporting both line and base maintenance for up to five narrow-body aircraft, along with a dedicated aircraft paint hangar, have entered service.

The second phase, scheduled for completion in the final quarter of 2026, will add another hangar, providing base maintenance capacity for five additional narrow-body aircraft. In the third phase, planned to commence within the next four to five years, this hangar will be expanded to accommodate up to ten narrow-body aircraft, marking the full completion of the maintenance centre investment.

The first-phase hangars integrate line and base maintenance functions within a single facility. Technical operations supported at the centre include routine line maintenance; engine and landing gear replacements; avionics and structural modifications; base maintenance checks; full aircraft painting and livery application; component maintenance; and training activities.
