Taj Wayanad Resort & Spa, a unit of Banasurasagar Hotels and Resorts India Pvt. Ltd., has received the First Prize in the Hotels and Resorts category at the Kerala State Pollution Control Board Award 2025. The award recognizes the resort’s focus on environmental protection and sustainable operations.
The recognition follows an evaluation process conducted by district and state-level panels of the Kerala State Pollution Control Board, which reviewed sustainability initiatives, pollution control systems, and ongoing improvement measures.

These include a zero-plastic initiative supported by an in-house glass water bottling plant, the use of decomposable amenities, and wooden key cards. The resort also promotes energy efficiency through solar power systems and the use of electric vehicles.
In water conservation, the property follows a zero-discharge policy and reuses treated water across operations. Its waste management approach includes organic composting, segregation, and safe handling of hazardous waste.

The resort also undertakes community initiatives, including tree-planting drives, flood relief support, and contributions to tribal schools and Anganwadis.
The award reflects Taj Wayanad Resort & Spa’s ongoing efforts to integrate sustainability into guest experiences and day-to-day hospitality operations.
