United Airlines launches summer flights to Europe
United Airlines expands Europe network with new summer routes
United Airlines has begun rolling out its summer 2026 schedule, introducing new services to several European destinations across Croatia, Italy, Scotland and Spain. The first of these routes commenced on 30 April 2026, offering additional travel options between the United States and Europe.
During the peak summer period, United plans to operate up to 210 daily flights between the U.S. and 36 European destinations, including Greenland. The schedule includes several routes not currently served by other U.S. network carriers.
New Routes Introduced
New services launching between late April and May include:
- Split, Croatia (SPU): Nonstop flights began on 30 April with three weekly services to the Dalmatian Coast.
- Bari, Italy (BRI): Four weekly flights start from 1 May, connecting travellers to the Puglia region.
- Glasgow, Scotland (GLA): Daily nonstop service begins on 8 May.
- Santiago de Compostela, Spain (SCQ): Three weekly flights from Newark/New York commence on 27 May.
- Reykjavik, Iceland (KEF): Daily service from Washington-Dulles begins on 21 May.
These routes expand access to a mix of coastal, cultural and regional destinations across Europe.
Seasonal Routes Resume
Alongside the new additions, United is also reinstating several seasonal services introduced in 2025. These include:
- Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia (via Tokyo/Narita) – from 30 April
- Faro, Portugal – from 15 May
- Madeira Island, Portugal – from 16 May
- Palermo, Italy – from 22 May
- Bilbao, Spain – from 30 May
- Nuuk, Greenland – from 6 June
These routes reflect continued interest in destinations beyond traditional European travel hubs, with a focus on regional and leisure markets.

United Airlines noted that demand for coastal and culturally focused destinations has influenced its network planning, with travellers seeking a wider range of experiences across Europe.
