Travel Conditions Improve Across Southern Thailand as TAT Supports Recovery
The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has confirmed that travel conditions across Southern Thailand have broadly stabilised, with floodwaters receding in previously affected areas. Destinations throughout the region are now accessible, and airports, major transport routes, and most attractions are operating normally.
Ms. Thapanee Kiatphaibool, TAT Governor, expressed appreciation to travellers and tourism partners for their patience and cooperation over recent days. She noted that TAT will continue to evaluate the overall impact on tourism and work closely with local partners on recovery measures. Planned efforts include refining market strategies and strengthening travel confidence through selected promotions, events, and activities that support local economies.
Accessibility continues to improve in Hat Yai (Songkhla), Satun, Phatthalung, Narathiwat, Yala, and Pattani as restoration work progresses. Main roads, border checkpoints, and airports in these provinces remain open, while some routes and attractions are still undergoing repairs.
In Nakhon Si Thammarat and Trang, conditions stabilised earlier, with land, sea, and air transport services now running normally. Most attractions have reopened. In Trang, certain locations within the Khao Banthat Range remain temporarily closed for safety. Rail services—Rapid 167/168 and Express 83/84—are operating with a connection via Thung Song.
Several destinations—Phuket, Phang-nga, Krabi, Ranong, Surat Thani (including Ko Samui, Ko Pha-ngan, and Ko Tao), and Chumphon—have remained accessible throughout and continue to welcome visitors with full services. Marine transport services are also operating normally, with occasional schedule changes depending on weather conditions. National parks in the region have reopened, except Mu Ko Chumphon National Park, which is closed for its annual maintenance.
Nationwide transport services are stabilising as well. Airports across Southern Thailand are operating normally, with flights on regular schedules. Travellers are advised to reconfirm flight details in case of routine adjustments. Marine transport services are running as usual, and interprovincial bus routes to southern provinces have fully resumed. The State Railway of Thailand has made temporary adjustments to selected Southern Line services while repairs continue, and full refunds are available for affected passengers.
