Tourism Malaysia Targets North African Travel Growth Through SITEV 2026
Tourism Malaysia is strengthening tourism promotion efforts in North Africa through participation in the 25th Salon International du Tourisme et des Voyages 2026 held in Algiers, Algeria from 18 to 21 May 2026.
The participation forms part of the Visit Malaysia 2026 campaign and focuses on positioning Malaysia as a destination for both leisure and business travel.

Algeria Emerging as a Growing Tourism Market
Tourism Malaysia stated that North Africa continues to show strong tourism potential because of increasing outbound travel demand and growing interest in long-haul destinations.
Algeria has recorded steady growth in visitor arrivals to Malaysia in recent years.
From January to December 2025, Malaysia welcomed 19,636 travellers from Algeria, representing a 14.53% increase compared to 2024.
The upward trend continued during the first quarter of 2026 with 2,167 Algerian visitors recorded, marking a 7.86% increase compared to the previous year.
Tourism officials said the growth reflects rising interest in Malaysia as a Muslim-friendly and long-haul travel destination.
Direct Flights Support Tourism Connectivity
Air Algérie currently operates direct flights between Algiers and Kuala Lumpur three times a week.
Tourism Malaysia stated that the direct air connection is helping improve accessibility between both countries while supporting tourism growth, business exchanges and travel demand from North Africa.
Promotional Activities Planned at SITEV 2026
