New Tivoli Hotel in Porto Region

Minor Hotels has announced that Tivoli Hotels & Resorts is expanding in Portugal, the brand’s home country. The new Tivoli Kopke Porto Gaia Hotel is set to open in early 2025. The hotel, situated on the south bank of the Douro River in the city of Gaia, offers a stunning panoramic view over Porto.

The upcoming Tivoli Kopke in northern Portugal aims to set a new standard for luxury hospitality. It will combine Tivoli’s tradition of timeless travel with the rich history and heritage of Kopke, the world’s oldest Port Wine House, established in 1638.

r

The hotel will have 150 guest rooms, including 10 suites, two restaurants, three bars, two swimming pools, a Tivoli Shape fitness centre, fully equipped events facilities with six meeting rooms, and 9,000 square meters of exterior gardens. Additionally, a Tivoli Spa will offer customized therapies inspired by the destination’s natural elements.

d

Tivoli Kopke Porto Gaia Hotel is located on the hillside of Gaia in an ancient Port Wine cellar that will be part of the hotel experience. With views over Porto city and its traditional Cais da Ribeira and the emblematic Luís I Bridge, the hotel is within walking distance from main local attractions with direct access to the lively and beautiful Gaia riverfront area, with its restaurants, bars and shops. The city of Porto is just a few minutes walk away, Devesas train station is nearby, and Francisco Sá Carneiro Airport is a 30-minute drive away.

d

The current hotel construction is being carefully curated to pay tribute to the history of Kopke, a brand older than Douro’s demarcated region and a leader in tawny and white port production. The unique Kopke Port Wine cellar adjoining the hotel will be one of the most exclusive attractions, allowing guests to enjoy an immersive experience in the world of the most recognised fortified wine—-port.

f

The hotel will offer gastronomic experiences, including a fine-dining restaurant led by a renowned chef who will soon introduce a new concept. There will also be an all-day dining restaurant, a wine bar, and a rooftop bar overlooking the Douro River with its iconic Rabelo boats and Porto.
