Thomas Cook India and SOTC Travel Sign MoU with Mauritius Tourism Promotion Authority
Thomas Cook (India) Limited and its group company SOTC Travel Limited have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Mauritius Tourism Promotion Authority (MTPA) as part of a strategic effort to boost travel demand from the Indian market to Mauritius.
The collaboration aims to enhance Mauritius’ visibility and encourage travel from India through targeted destination promotion and market engagement. The MoU was signed by Mr. Rajeev Kale, President & Country Head, Thomas Cook (India) Limited; Mr. S.D. Nandakumar, President & Country Head – Holidays and Corporate Tours, SOTC Travel Limited; and Mr. Benoît Harter, Director, Mauritius Tourism Promotion Authority, in the presence of Mr. Dinesh Burrenchobay, Chairman, Mauritius Tourism Promotion Authority.
The partnership will showcase Mauritius beyond its beaches and natural scenery, emphasizing its Creole heritage and cultural variety, as seen in its cuisine, festivals, and religious customs. With close cultural connections to India, visa-free entry, short flight durations, and diverse lodging choices, Mauritius remains a popular destination for Indian tourists in leisure, honeymoon, and family travel.
Mauritius is also seeing increased interest for MICE and corporate travel, supported by convention facilities, resort-based meeting infrastructure and team-building experiences in natural settings.
The collaboration will focus on destination knowledge and education, product development, and marketing communications, with the objective of positioning Mauritius across India’s metro, mini-metro, Tier 2, and Tier 3 markets.

Commenting on the partnership, Mr. Rajeev Kale said the collaboration will leverage Thomas Cook India’s distribution network and destination expertise to promote Mauritius across leisure, MICE and business travel segments, including emerging regional markets.
Mr. S.D. Nandakumar noted that the MoU supports efforts to present Mauritius as a destination offering cultural depth alongside leisure appeal, with relevance for multiple travel segments from India.
Mr. Benoît Harter stated that the partnership aligns with MTPA’s strategy to grow arrivals from India by engaging both metropolitan and regional markets, with a focus on leisure and MICE travel through coordinated initiatives with Thomas Cook India and SOTC Travel.
