Thailand Tourism Safety Plan Targets Illegal Operators and Visitor Confidence

Tourism Authority of Thailand is strengthening its Trusted Thailand initiative as part of a wider national effort to improve tourism safety, raise service standards and increase traveller confidence across the country.
The move follows a national security policy workshop chaired by Anutin Charnvirakul on 21 May 2026.
The meeting focused on improving cooperation between government agencies with greater emphasis on tourism safety, transparency and service quality as part of country’s tourism and economic development strategy.
Multiple Agencies Involved in Tourism Safety Efforts

These include:
- Royal Thai Police
- Ministry of Justice of Thailand
- Ministry of Interior of Thailand
- Provincial authorities and regional police teams
- Local administrative agencies and national security organisations
Officials stated that technology and data systems are also being used to support risk monitoring and improve safety management in tourism areas and economic zones.
Authorities Increase Action Against Illegal Tourism Businesses
Country’s tourism authorities are also increasing inspections and legal action against unlawful tourism operators.
The enforcement work involves cooperation between:
- Ministry of Tourism and Sports of Thailand
- Tourist Police Bureau

- National security agencies
The inspections are targeting nominee businesses, illegal tour operators and unlicensed tour guides operating in major tourist destinations across Thailand.
Trusted Thailand Programme Supports Service Standards
Alongside enforcement measures, the Tourism Authority of Thailand is continuing to expand its Trusted Thailand programme.
The initiative promotes recognised safety and service quality standards across four tourism categories:
- Hotels, accommodation and homestays
- Restaurants and dining venues
- Shopping centres and retail complexes
- Recreational facilities and tourist attractions
According to tourism officials, the programme is designed to strengthen traveller confidence throughout the visitor experience.
Thailand Focuses on Long-Term Tourism Quality

She stated that Trusted Thailand supports the country’s broader goal of creating a tourism environment focused on safety, fairness, credibility and sustainable value.
Tourism Safety Ecosystem Planned
The government said the combined measures are helping build a broader Tourism Safety Ecosystem connecting traveller protection, legal business practices, service standards and destination communication.
Officials stated that the framework supports Thailand’s transition from volume-based tourism growth toward higher-value and sustainable tourism development.
Thailand Continues International Tourism Promotion
The Tourism Authority of Thailand said it will continue working with tourism stakeholders and government agencies to strengthen recognised tourism standards and communicate Thailand’s tourism readiness to international markets.
