Tasteful Thailand Highlights Thai Gastronomy Through Documentary Series

TAT’s Tasteful Thailand Project Wins Recognition at Telly Awards

The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has announced that Tasteful Thailand, a food documentary series supported by the organization, received the Gold Award in the General-Documentary category at the 47th Annual Telly Awards in the United States.

The documentary series was created for Tencent Video and WeTV to promote Thai gastronomy, local culture, and regional travel experiences to international audiences, particularly younger Chinese travellers interested in food and cultural tourism.

TAT Governor Thapanee Kiatphaibool said the project reflects Thailand’s approach to presenting food as part of the country’s cultural identity and travel experience. She added that the initiative supports Thailand’s positioning in gastronomy tourism through local ingredients, culinary heritage, and community-based storytelling.

The series consists of 10 episodes, each running 10-15 minutes, exploring the origins of Thai flavours through regional ingredients, traditional food cultures, and local chefs. The programme also connects food experiences with nearby destinations and community knowledge.

Featured locations and food themes include sticky rice in Chiang Mai, lemongrass in Khon Kaen, mackerel in Samut Songkhram, palm sugar in Phetchaburi, chilli in Phuket, fermented fish in Khon Kaen and Udon Thani, coconut milk on Ko Samui, basil in Kanchanaburi, Yen Ta Fo in Bangkok, and traditional scented desserts in the capital.

The series began streaming on Tencent Video and WeTV in December 2025 and was promoted through teaser campaigns, filmmaker interviews, behind-the-scenes content, and social media activity across platforms such as WeChat, Douyin, Weibo, and Xiaohongshu.

Founded in 1979, the Telly Awards recognize achievements in video and television production across multiple formats and platforms, receiving entries from organisations and creators across several countries each year.

The recognition highlights the continued global interest in Thai gastronomy and culture-driven tourism content.
