TAT Recognizes VietJet Thailand’s Green Route to Phu Quoc
The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has collaborated with VietJet Thailand and PTT Oil and Retail Business Public Company Limited (PTT OR) to introduce the “Green Route” flight between Bangkok and Phu Quoc. This marks Thailand’s first low-cost carrier service on the route using sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), supporting the aviation sector’s shift toward lower-carbon operations across ASEAN.

Ms. Thapanee Kiatphaibool, TAT Governor, noted that the initiative reflects ongoing efforts to encourage responsible travel and contribute toward Thailand’s long-term carbon neutrality goals.
The inaugural flight took place on November 6, 2025, at Suvarnabhumi Airport, with representatives from government, aviation, energy, and tourism organizations in attendance. The Green Route is part of VietJet Thailand’s “Fly Green” programme, developed in partnership with PTT OR and Bangkok Aviation Fuel Services (BAFS), with plans to gradually increase the use of SAF in regular flight operations.

SAF is produced from renewable and waste-based materials, meeting global safety and performance standards. Thailand’s bio-resource capacity offers opportunities for future local SAF production, supported through cross-sector collaboration.

TAT continues to highlight sustainable travel through initiatives such as the Thailand Tourism Awards, CF-Hotels, STAR rating, and the Krabi Prototype project, guiding tourism operators in adopting environmentally conscious practices and promoting responsible travel experiences.
