Summit Hotels Signs New Properties in Siliguri and Darjeeling Region

Focus on Nature-Led Boutique Stays in Eastern Himalayas

Summit Hotels & Resorts has announced the signing of two new boutique properties in North Bengal, strengthening its presence across the Darjeeling and Siliguri region. The group has signed Summit Gulma River Resort in Siliguri and Summit Falling Water near Darjeeling, both planned as 30-room developments centred on nature-led experiences and smaller-format hospitality.

The Siliguri property is expected to open on 15 August, while the Darjeeling project is scheduled to launch in early January 2027.

Summit Gulma River Resort, Siliguri

Located in the Gulma area of Siliguri, the Summit Gulma River Resort overlooks the Gulma Tea Estate and a nearby river. The property is being developed to cater to both leisure stays and small-scale events.

The hotel will offer a mix of standard rooms and studio-style accommodations with kitchenettes, designed for longer stays. Facilities will include a restaurant, bar, spa, gym and a banquet hall with a capacity of around 150 guests, making it suitable for weddings, social gatherings and corporate events within the tea garden region.

Summit Falling Water, Near Darjeeling

The second property, Summit Falling Water, will be located in Rangbull, approximately 3 kilometres before Darjeeling town along the main highway. The design draws inspiration from Frank Lloyd Wright’s Fallingwater, integrating the structure with its natural surroundings.

Built around a natural stream flowing through the site, the hotel will feature 30 rooms with private balconies overlooking the water and surrounding hills. The Darjeeling Himalayan Railway track runs along the property’s front, offering views of the heritage toy train.

The hotel will also include a restaurant, a coffee shop, a spa overlooking the stream, a gym, and parking facilities. During the winter months, the area may experience seasonal snowfall, contributing to the overall visitor experience.

Expansion in the Eastern Himalayan Region

Sumit Mitruka, Founder of Summit Hotels & Resorts, said the new projects reflect the company’s focus on properties that connect closely with their natural surroundings. He noted that demand in the region continues to come from leisure travel, weddings and interest in destination-based stays.

With these additions, Summit Hotels & Resorts continues to expand its presence in the Eastern Himalayan region, focusing on boutique developments that emphasize location, accessibility and experience.
