International Travel Tips for Summer Flights

Summer Travel Guide for International Airline Passengers

Passengers planning international trips this summer with Alaska Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines are advised to prepare travel documents and meet airport requirements in advance to avoid delays during their journeys.

Whether travelling to destinations such as Rome, London, Iceland, Seoul, Tokyo or Sydney, travellers are encouraged to review entry regulations, passport validity and airport procedures before departure.

Many countries require passports to remain valid for at least six months beyond the return travel date. Passengers should also check whether visas, proof of citizenship or additional travel documents are needed before flying.

Travellers can use the U.S. Department of State’s International Travel Checklist to review country-specific entry requirements ahead of their journey. Airlines are also recommending that passengers check airport websites for updated security wait times and suggested arrival schedules before travelling.

International passengers are advised to arrive early at the airport, as travel documents must be verified before departure. Alaska Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines passengers can also use the Alaska Hawaiian mobile app to pre-verify travel documents before arriving at the airport.

The airlines are also encouraging travellers to register with the Smart Traveller Enrollment Program (STEP), a free service that provides safety updates, travel alerts and emergency assistance information while abroad.

The Alaska Hawaiian mobile app also allows passengers to check in before departure, receive live flight updates, access airport maps and manage baggage payments digitally.

Passengers using TSA PreCheck or Global Entry can add their credentials to their booking through the app before travel.

As international summer travel demand continues, airlines are encouraging passengers to plan ahead and complete document checks early to help ensure smoother airport experiences.
