Hyatt Debuts 500-Suite Secrets Playa Esmeralda Resort & Spa in Dominican Republic
Hyatt Hotels Corporation has announced the opening of the adults-only, all-inclusive Secrets Playa Esmeralda Resort & Spa, expanding its Inclusive Collection presence in the Dominican Republic.
Located along the shoreline of Playa Esmeralda in the Miches region, the resort offers 500 suites and aims to deliver a blend of privacy, comfort, and connection to the surrounding landscape. Playa Esmeralda, still relatively undeveloped, offers a combination of rainforest and beach settings.
Guest Experience and Accommodations
The resort features 500 suites, each with a private terrace or balcony. Select rooms include swim-out access and ocean views. Guests have access to 24-hour room and concierge service, along with an activity calendar designed for a wide range of interests. Preferred Club guests receive additional benefits, such as private check-in, exclusive pool and beach areas, and upgraded in-room amenities.
Dining and Culinary Offerings
Led by Executive Chef Carlos Quijano, the resort includes 11 dining venues and 7 bars. Among them is Doña Altagracia, a signature restaurant that focuses on Dominican culinary traditions. Dishes include locally influenced options such as risotto with stewed goat and mofongo.

Secrets Spa offers a range of treatments, including customizable facials and body scrubs made with local ingredients like coconut powder and aloe vera. Facilities include a hydrotherapy circuit, sauna, and whirlpool. For fitness and recreation, the resort offers tennis courts, water sports, and group activities such as dance and Spanish classes.

Guests can explore the Miches region through guided excursions such as hiking, mangrove kayaking, and seasonal whale watching. The resort supports environmental efforts in partnership with Promiches and has established a protected nesting site for sea turtles along the beachfront.

Secrets Playa Esmeralda shares a central Public Square with the upcoming Dreams Playa Esmeralda Resort & Spa, scheduled to open on September 1, 2025. This shared space features dining, retail, and entertainment options. Secrets guests have reciprocal access to Dreams facilities and amenities, broadening the range of available experiences.
