Ruby Hotels Marks Second U.S. Signing with New York City Development

Ruby Hotels, the urban lifestyle hotel brand in IHG Hotels & Resorts’ premium portfolio, has announced plans to enter New York City with a new hotel project scheduled to open in 2027.

The upcoming Ruby New York City will become the brand’s second signed property in the United States, following the recently announced Chicago project. Both hotels are expected to open in 2027 as part of Ruby’s continued international expansion.

The hotel will be located on Manhattan’s Avenue of the Americas, placing guests within easy reach of landmarks including Herald Square, the Empire State Building and Madison Square Garden. The property will occupy a historic 18-storey building dating back to the 1930s, which is set to undergo a comprehensive renovation later this year before reopening under the Ruby brand.

Ruby New York City will feature 187 guestrooms designed around the brand’s lean luxury concept, with an emphasis on efficient design and essential comforts. Facilities will include a 24-hour lobby bar that serves as a social space for both hotel guests and local residents.

Jolyon Bulley, Chief Executive Officer, Americas, at IHG Hotels & Resorts, said the New York signing reflects the brand’s growing presence in major urban markets across the United States. He added that the project builds on IHG’s collaboration with AC Developers and supports Ruby’s long-term expansion plans.

The hotel will be owned by AC Developers, a New York-based hotel, residential and commercial developer, while Aimbridge Hospitality will manage day-to-day operations.

Andrew Weiss, Co-Founder of AC Developers, said that New York City provides an appropriate setting for the Ruby brand, which combines lifestyle-focused hospitality with practical design for modern travellers.

Founded in Germany in 2013, Ruby Hotels currently has 40 open and pipeline properties across Europe and other international markets. Recent Ruby Hotels signings include the brand’s first planned hotel in Belgium, as well as additional projects in Germany and Italy.

The New York project also forms part of IHG’s broader expansion strategy in the city. In recent years, the company has added new properties under brands including Kimpton and voco hotels, while a new Crowne Plaza hotel is also scheduled to open in Times Square later this year.
