Oceania Cruises Announces Maiden Season Itineraries for Oceania Sonata
Oceania Cruises has released details of the maiden season itineraries for Oceania Sonata, the first vessel in its new Sonata Class, scheduled to debut in August 2027. The itineraries are currently available for preview, with bookings opening on 29 January 2026.

The inaugural season will comprise 22 voyages operating between August 2027 and April 2028. Sailings range from 7 to 16 days and will cover more than 90 destinations across Europe, the Caribbean, Mexico, and Central and South America. The ship is designed to accommodate 1,390 guests and will be supported by a crew of 855.
Oceania Sonata’s first voyage is scheduled to depart from Rome (Civitavecchia) on 7 August 2027, embarking on a 14-day journey to Trieste. Ports of call on this itinerary include Catania, Valletta, Katakolon, Bar, and Zadar. Over the course of the season, the ship will visit major European cities such as Barcelona, Athens, and Lisbon, as well as smaller ports including Paros, Koper, Sarandë, and Palamós. Several itineraries feature overnight stays in destinations such as Istanbul, Livorno, and Bordeaux, allowing for extended time ashore.
Following its Mediterranean programme, Oceania Sonata will cross the Atlantic to Miami to begin its Caribbean and Americas season. Planned itineraries include visits to destinations such as Bridgetown, Tortola, Zihuatanejo-Ixtapa, and Puerto Quetzal, along with a daytime transit of the Panama Canal.

“Oceania Sonata’s inaugural season is defined by the cultural diversity and geographic variety of the destinations she visits,” said Jason Montague, Chief Luxury Officer. “As the first of four ships in the Sonata Class, her premiere sets the tone for the thoughtfully designed itineraries, exceptional comfort and meaningful, unrushed freedom to explore the world that underscore the continued evolution of Oceania Cruises.”
Sample itineraries from the maiden season include:
Mediterranean Collage (Maiden Voyage): Rome to Trieste, 14 days, departing 7 August 2027
Summer’s End Sailaway: Barcelona to London (Southampton), 10 days, departing 30 August 2027
Greeks & Byzantines: Athens to Istanbul, 7 days, departing 14 October 2027
Rose-Hued Palaces & Playas: Barcelona to Miami, 14 days, departing 18 November 2027

Oceania Sonata will feature 13 dining venues included in the cruise fare, with new concepts such as La Table par Maîtres Cuisiniers de France and Nikkei Kitchen making their debut on the ship. The vessel will also introduce new social and entertainment spaces, including the Opus Lounge, an expanded Baristas café, an enhanced Crêperie, and updated venues for culinary and digital learning.
With the introduction of Oceania Sonata, Oceania Cruises continues to expand its fleet and itinerary offerings, marking the beginning of the Sonata Class and its planned rollout over the coming years.
