Curio Collection by Hilton’s First Hawai‘i Hotel Appoints General Manager Ahead of Opening
As preparations continue for the opening of Hale Hōkūala Kauaʻi, Curio Collection by Hilton, Jon Itoga has been appointed general manager and will lead the Curio Collection hotel’s pre-opening team while overseeing operations for the brand’s first property in Hawai‘i.
Itoga brings more than 15 years of experience in hospitality across luxury and resort properties in Hawai‘i. He joins the project from Waikīkī Beach Marriott Resort & Spa, where he served as hotel manager and oversaw operations at one of the state’s largest hotels.

During his career, Itoga has also held senior finance and operations roles with Aqua-Aston Hospitality, Turtle Bay Resort, and SH Hotels & Resorts, where he was involved in resort operations and capital and development initiatives.
Born and raised on the island of O‘ahu, Itoga holds a Master of Business Administration and a master’s degree in Financial Engineering from the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa. He also serves as a lecturer at the university.

Commenting on the development, Harold Rapoza, Area Vice President of Operations at Hilton, said Hawai‘i has been part of the company’s presence in the Pacific for more than six decades. He added that Hale Hōkūala Kauaʻi, Curio Collection by Hilton, will reflect the culture and heritage of Kauaʻi, and that Itoga’s experience in the region will help shape the hotel’s connection with the destination and its community.

Edward Mace, president and CEO of Silverwest Hotels, said the property has been designed to reflect its surroundings and the local community, with the aim of offering guests an experience connected to the culture and environment of Kauaʻi.
Across Hawai‘i, Hilton currently operates more than 25 hotels and has nearly 10 additional properties in various stages of design and construction.
