Minor Hotels to Open Avani Mooloolaba Beach Hotel in April 2026

Minor Hotels has confirmed that Avani Mooloolaba Beach Hotel is scheduled to open in April 2026, marking the Sunshine Coast’s first internationally branded new-build hotel in nearly 40 years.

Developed, owned, and operated by KPAT Hotels under a franchise agreement with Minor Hotels, the 12-storey, 180-key property will introduce a new standard of coastal hospitality to one of Australia’s growing tourism regions.

“Avani Mooloolaba Beach Hotel represents a key milestone for Minor Hotels Australasia,” said Craig Hooley, Chief Operating Officer of Minor Hotels Australasia.

“The Avani brand’s modern and design-focused approach aligns well with the Sunshine Coast’s relaxed yet contemporary lifestyle. This project addresses a gap in hotel development for the region and supports future tourism growth.”

Location and Design

Situated at the corner of Brisbane Road and First Avenue, the hotel is 100 metres from Mooloolaba Beach, which is currently undergoing a foreshore revitalisation. Sunshine Coast Airport is a 15-minute drive away, and attractions like Australia Zoo are within 30 minutes.

The property includes rooms and one-bedroom suites ranging from 27 to 45 sqm, many with interconnecting options suited for families and groups. Interiors combine contemporary design with coastal elements and offer amenities such as 24-hour in-room dining and high-speed WiFi.

Dining and Facilities

The hotel will feature three dining venues, including a signature restaurant and bar on the 12th floor, a rooftop pool and bar, a lobby bar, and a modern Australian restaurant focusing on local produce.

An events floor on the third level will offer four spaces for gatherings of up to 250 guests, overlooking the Mooloolaba River. Spaces will feature modern finishes, natural textures, and integrated audiovisual technology.

Wellness and Growth Strategy

The AvaniSpa will include treatment suites and a sauna, while AvaniFit will provide training facilities and in-room wellness options.

The opening of Avani Mooloolaba Beach Hotel supports Minor Hotels’ expansion strategy, contributing to the group’s goal of surpassing 850 properties worldwide by the end of 2027.
