Marriott Bonvoy Partners with Ethiopian Airlines to Expand Loyalty Benefits
Members Can Earn and Redeem Points and Miles Across Flights and Hotel Stays
Marriott Bonvoy, Marriott International’s travel programme, has partnered with Ethiopian Airlines to offer members greater flexibility in earning and redeeming rewards for hotel stays and flights.
Under the partnership, members of Marriott Bonvoy and ShebaMiles, Ethiopian Airlines’ loyalty programme, can convert points and miles between the two programmes. ShebaMiles can be converted into Marriott Bonvoy points for hotel stays and upgrades, while Marriott Bonvoy points can be transferred into ShebaMiles for flight bookings.
Members staying at participating Marriott Bonvoy properties can also choose whether to earn Marriott Bonvoy points or ShebaMiles during their stay.
The partnership connects Ethiopian Airlines’ network of more than 145 destinations with Marriott Bonvoy’s portfolio of over 30 hotel brands and 10,000 destinations worldwide, offering members access to a wider range of travel options.

Andrew Watson, Chief Commercial Officer – Europe, Middle East and Africa at Marriott International, said the collaboration reflects the company’s focus on expanding travel options for members, particularly in regions such as Africa.

Rahel Assefa, Group Vice President of Marketing at Ethiopian Airlines, said the partnership supports the airline’s efforts to expand benefits for ShebaMiles members and provide more ways to earn and use miles.
ShebaMiles members can convert miles to Marriott Bonvoy points at a 2:1 ratio. Marriott Bonvoy members can convert points to ShebaMiles at a 3:1 ratio and receive an additional 5,000 ShebaMiles for every 60,000 points transferred in a single transaction.
On eligible stays, members can earn up to two miles per US dollar spent or choose to earn Marriott Bonvoy points as per standard programme benefits.
Members need to be enrolled in both Marriott Bonvoy and ShebaMiles to access these features, with no requirement to link accounts.
