CGH Earth Saha Opens Isai Karai Bungalow in Mahabalipuram

Five-Room Coastal Retreat Brings Boutique Stay Experience to Tamil Nadu

CGH Earth Saha has launched Isai Karai, a five-room coastal bungalow in the seaside town of Mahabalipuram, Tamil Nadu. Situated close to the shoreline, the property provides a private retreat set within a region renowned for its cultural and historical importance.

Positioned around 50 metres from the sea, the bungalow is located near key landmarks such as the UNESCO-listed Shore Temple and the rock relief of Arjuna’s Penance. The setting allows guests to explore both the coastline and the heritage sites of Mahabalipuram.

Isai Karai, which translates to ‘musical shore’, is designed as an intimate retreat with five rooms arranged across a three-bedroom main house and a separate two-bedroom unit. Rooms can be booked individually or as a full property, making it suitable for families and small groups.

The bungalow’s design reflects the surrounding landscape, with rooms inspired by the plants and trees across the property. Interiors include ensuite bathrooms with open showers, natural light and garden views. Outdoor spaces feature lawns, courtyards and pathways lined with fruit-bearing trees such as papaya, mango and star fruit.

The property’s interiors incorporate elements of Mahabalipuram’s artistic heritage, with local stone textures, sculptures and artwork featured throughout the space.

Dining at the bungalow focuses on regional flavours, with a menu featuring South Indian dishes and seafood prepared with locally sourced ingredients. Guests can also opt for customised meals based on their preferences. A poolside barbecue area offers an additional dining option in an outdoor setting.

Guests staying at Isai Karai can explore nearby attractions, including the Shore Temple, Mahabalipuram Lighthouse and the India Seashell Museum. The town is also known for its stone-carving traditions and sculpture schools, as well as beaches that attract visitors for water activities such as surfing.

The property is accessible from Chennai and Puducherry, making it suitable for short stays and longer coastal visits.
