Without a doubt, the Maldives and Seychelles are two tropical paradises on Earth, known for their natural beauty. These two places have become famous global destinations for visitors seeking visa-free entrance. These places’ welcoming practices have considerably increased their tourism sectors.

As of mid-2024, the Maldives has experienced significant visitor influx, with China leading the pack, followed by Russia, the United Kingdom, Italy, Germany, and India. The country’s appeal stems from world-class resorts like Soneva Jani, Hurawalhi Ocean Villa, and the Conrad Maldives Rangali Island, which attract guests for an average stay of 7.8 days.

Despite allowing visa-free access, Seychelles reported fewer arrivals than the Maldives in 2023, with 384,204 visitors. The country’s growth prospects remain optimistic, aided by sustained tourism and technological advancements. The Seychelles International Airport acts as an important transportation centre. Tourism contributes significantly to both countries’ GDPs, with the Maldives at 30% and the Seychelles slightly higher at 31%. The Maldives, in particular, has experienced strong growth, boosted by judicious hikes in goods and services tax rates.
