La Vie Hotels & Resorts to Manage New Lindeman Island Resort in Queensland

La Vie Hotels & Resorts has announced that it has obtained the management rights for the upcoming Lindeman Island Hotel project located in Queensland’s Whitsundays. This redevelopment, spearheaded by the Singapore-based Well Smart Group, marks an important step in revitalizing one of Australia’s most historically significant island destinations.

Lindeman Island, a well-known part of Queensland’s tourism heritage, is undergoing a major transformation following years of dormancy since Cyclone Yasi in 2011. The new resort will strike a balance between the island’s natural appeal and sustainable development, offering modern hospitality.

Supported in part by the Queensland Government’s Growing Futures Tourism Program, the first phase of the redevelopment includes:

  • A five-star hotel with approximately 200 rooms and 9 suites

  • Multiple restaurants and bars

  • A spa and fitness centre

  • Event and conference facilities

  • Staff accommodation and eco-friendly infrastructure, including a solar farm

  • A new 50-metre jetty

The initial phase of the project is scheduled to be completed by 2026, with the resort anticipated to open shortly thereafter. This first phase is valued at between $40 million and $50 million and is part of a larger $583 million master plan that has been approved under Queensland’s coordinated projects framework. The plan also includes ecotourism facilities and environmental improvements, such as the restoration of native vegetation and initiatives for renewable energy.

La Vie Hotels & Resorts will also introduce an international luxury brand to Lindeman Island in 2026, further strengthening the property’s position within the Asia-Pacific travel market.

The project is expected to create hundreds of jobs during construction and approximately 500 ongoing roles once operational, contributing to tourism and economic growth in the Mackay and Whitsundays regions.

La Vie Hotels & Resorts CEO Jerry Xu said the company looks forward to working with Well Smart Group to bring Lindeman Island back to life while ensuring the development aligns with sustainable and community-focused values.
