Air India Expands Partnership with Saudia

Air India and Saudia have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to expand cooperation between the two airlines, building on their existing codeshare agreement and strengthening air connectivity between India and Saudi Arabia.

The agreement was signed by H.E. Engr. Ibrahim Al-Omar, Director General of Saudia Group, and Campbell Wilson, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Air India.

The MoU outlines a phased approach to expanding the partnership. Both airlines will work to extend their existing codeshare agreement, improve connectivity across their respective route networks, explore terminal co-location, and identify additional operational and commercial opportunities. The agreement also includes discussions on closer cooperation between their loyalty programmes.

The two carriers will also evaluate opportunities to broaden the partnership to include other airlines within their respective groups, including flyadeal and Air India Express.

H.E. Engr. Ibrahim Al-Omar said India remains an important market for Saudia and that the partnership will provide passengers with more travel options and improved connectivity while supporting future collaboration between the two airline groups.

Campbell Wilson said the growing relationship between India and Saudi Arabia creates opportunities for aviation to strengthen business and tourism links. He added that closer cooperation between the two airlines is expected to deliver additional benefits for passengers while supporting the long-term growth plans of both carriers.

The Memorandum of Understanding establishes a framework for expanding cooperation as Air India and Saudia continue to strengthen their international networks and respond to increasing travel demand between the two countries.

Since its privatization in 2022, Air India has expanded its international airline partnerships. The carrier now has 25 codeshare agreements and more than 120 interline partnerships, providing access to over 1,000 destinations worldwide through partner airlines.
