Jamaican High Commission in New Delhi Marks 63rd Independence Anniversary

The Jamaican High Commission in New Delhi hosted a celebration to mark Jamaica’s 63rd Independence anniversary under the theme Be Proud, Be Bold, in the Black, Green and Gold”. The event, held at Andaz Delhi, brought together over 900 guests for an evening that showcased Jamaica’s culture and hospitality while reflecting the growing ties between India and Jamaica.

The program opened with an address by H.E. Jason K. M. Hall, Jamaica’s High Commissioner to India, who emphasized the significance of the National Day and noted the milestones being observed: 63 years of Independence, 63 years of diplomatic relations with India, 187 years since the abolition of slavery, and 180 years since the first Indian Arrival in Jamaica. He invited attendees to connect further with Jamaica and its heritage.

Guests experienced aspects of Jamaican culture through music, cuisine, and signature products. Jamaican reggae artiste Tessellated performed live, while food stations featured jerk dishes, Ital cuisine, Appleton Estate Rum, and Jamaica’s Blue Mountain Coffee.

The event was attended by members of the diplomatic community, government officials, business representatives, media, and cultural figures, reflecting the depth of Jamaica–India relations.

The evening was joined by Smt. Anupriya Patel, Union Minister of State, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, and Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers, who attended as Chief Guest. She was welcomed by High Commissioner Hall, underscoring the continued partnership between Jamaica and India.
