Ramadan Aid Program Reaches Indigenous Communities in Cameron Highlands

Ikhlas Com Travel & Umrah Sdn Bhd (ikhlas.com) organized its annual Seikhlas Ramadan campaign, providing aid across the country. A key part of this effort was the Ziarah Belantara programme, which assisted newly converted indigenous Muslim communities in the Orang Asli settlements of Lemoi and Telimau in Cameron Highlands, Pahang.

The program, carried out in partnership with the non-governmental organization Sahabat Belantara, involved a convoy of 17 four-wheel-drive vehicles and 55 volunteers. The convoy traversed logging trails to deliver vital supplies, including rice, cooking oil, sugar, flour, and other kitchen essentials. These provisions aimed to support local communities with meals during Ramadan.

Beyond food distribution, the programme included iftar (breaking the fast), tarawih prayers, and tazkirah (religious discourse) sessions with the Orang Asli community.

Ikhlas Kamarudin, CEO of ikhlas.com, stated that these sessions aimed to reinforce their understanding and integration of Islam into daily life, emphasising the responsible delivery of donor contributions to those in need, particularly in remote areas.

The Seikhlas Ramadan campaign also extended to other initiatives. These included the Asnaf Home Makeover Programme, in partnership with Pusat Pungutan Zakat – Majlis Agama Islam Wilayah Persekutuan (PPZ-MAIWP), which refurbished homes for asnaf families. The Shopping Raya ‘Ikhlas Untukmu’ initiative provided clothing and essential items for Aidilfitri preparations to asnaf families.

Community Iftar Initiatives Support Students, Frontliners, and Asnaf Families

Additional community iftar programmes included distributing 1,100 meal packs to students at Institut Pendidikan Guru Kampus Ilmu Khas and 1,500 meal packs to students at the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM), Gombak Campus. Moreover, 3,000 iftar meals were handed out to frontliners in Sepang, and a community iftar was organized for 110 asnaf families (over 1,000 recipients) in Jalan Kebun, Klang, who also received essential supplies.

To date, the campaign has distributed over 20,000 hot meals for iftar and approximately 1,200 food baskets containing basic necessities throughout Ramadan.

Ikhlas.com, founded in October 2020, is an Islamic digital platform offering Umrah and Muslim-friendly travel services, as well as Shariah-compliant products such as zakat, qurban, aqiqah, sadaqah, and fidyah.
