IHG expands Egypt portfolio with Holiday Inn signings in Aswan

IHG signs Holiday Inn hotels in Aswan to grow Egypt presence

IHG Hotels & Resorts has signed management agreements for two new Holiday Inn properties in Aswan, marking the brand’s entry into the destination.

The agreements, signed with Misr Holanda and Avenue for Development, include Holiday Inn Aswan and Holiday Inn Resort New Aswan. Both projects aim to add branded accommodation options in a city known for its cultural and historical significance.

Holiday Inn Aswan will feature 200 rooms and will be located near the city centre and key attractions. Scheduled to open in 2029, the hotel will include three dining venues and meeting facilities across five event spaces.

Holiday Inn Resort New Aswan will be developed in the New Aswan area and is expected to open in 2030. The resort will also offer 200 rooms, designed for travellers seeking a resort-style stay.

Haitham Mattar, Managing Director, India, Middle East & Africa at IHG Hotels & Resorts, said the signings reflect the company’s continued focus on Egypt as a growth market, supported by partnerships with local developers.

Dr Eng Ibrahim Sadek, CEO of Misr Holanda for Tourism and Hotel Investment and Avenue for Development, said the collaboration supports plans to expand within the hospitality sector and meet demand from both domestic and international travellers.

Located along the Nile, Aswan is known for its cultural heritage, access to sites such as the Temple of Philae, and river-based travel and local cultural experiences.

IHG Hotels & Resorts currently operates 10 hotels in Egypt across brands including InterContinental, Crowne Plaza, voco, Holiday Inn and Staybridge Suites. The company also has a pipeline of 23 hotels planned across the country.
