Sriperumbudur has developed into an industrial and investment hub, supported by its proximity to Chennai Port and its location along the Chennai–Bangalore highway. The presence of manufacturing facilities, Software Technology Parks and the aerospace cluster at Vallam Vadagal has contributed to increased business activity in the region. Growth in logistics and warehousing has also supported demand for organised hospitality.

IHG currently operates 51 hotels across six brands in India, including Six Senses, InterContinental Hotels & Resorts, Crowne Plaza, voco Hotels, Holiday Inn Resort and Holiday Inn Express. The company also has a pipeline of 89 hotels expected to open over the next three to five years, reflecting its continued expansion in the country.
