IHG Hotels & Resorts Signs Kimpton Al Rowda Doha, Marking Brand Debut in Qatar

IHG Hotels & Resorts has announced the signing of Kimpton Al Rowda Doha, marking the Kimpton brand’s debut in Qatar. Scheduled to open in mid-2026, the 283-key luxury lifestyle hotel will be located in central Doha, close to the city’s commercial districts, cultural venues, and key attractions.

Kimpton Al Rowda Doha will introduce the brand’s design-led, lifestyle-focused hospitality approach to the Qatari market. The property will feature a mix of guest rooms, suites, and apartments, along with five dining and lounge venues, including a rooftop bar offering city views. In line with the Kimpton brand ethos, the hotel will also be pet-friendly.

Kimpton, which pioneered the boutique hotel concept more than four decades ago, has developed a global portfolio known for expressive design, locally inspired experiences, and personalised service. The Doha property is intended to reflect this approach by integrating contemporary design with the character of its urban surroundings, serving both business and leisure travellers as well as local residents.

Commenting on the signing, Haitham Mattar, Managing Director, India, Middle East & Africa, IHG Hotels & Resorts, said the introduction of the Kimpton brand in Doha aligns with the city’s evolving hospitality landscape. He noted that the project involves the repositioning of an existing, centrally located property into a lifestyle-focused hotel tailored to current traveller preferences.

Sheikh Khalid Bin Jassim Al Thani said the partnership with IHG reflects a shared vision for the property and its role within Doha’s broader development as an international destination. He added that the conversion to the Kimpton brand supports plans to reposition the hotel within the city’s hospitality offering.

Doha continues to attract international visitors, supported by cultural institutions such as the Museum of Islamic Art and the National Museum of Qatar, as well as its role as a regional aviation hub. The city combines historic neighbourhoods with contemporary architecture and a growing lifestyle and events calendar.

The signing of Kimpton Al Rowda Doha adds to IHG’s expanding luxury and lifestyle portfolio in the Middle East. The Kimpton brand recently opened in Riyadh and is set to debut in Dubai later this year, followed by Jeddah.

IHG currently operates eight hotels in Qatar across five brands, including InterContinental, voco, Crowne Plaza, Holiday Inn, and Staybridge Suites.
