Emirates Marks UAE’s 54th Eid Al Etihad with In-Flight and On-Ground Cultural Activities

Honouring a shared journey of 54 years, Emirates will mark UAE Eid Al Etihad on 2 December with traditional Emirati sweet treats served in-flight, a selection of regional dishes across its Dubai lounges, and a curated collection of Emirati music, podcasts, and films available on ice.

Earlier, the Emirates Group observed Eid Al Etihad at its headquarters with cultural activities designed to engage its multinational workforce. The event began with a cake-cutting ceremony attended by His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman and Chief Executive of Emirates Airline and Group; Sir Tim Clark, President of Emirates Airline; and other senior executives.

Students from Raffles World Academy presented a musical performance featuring a choir, band, and dance ensemble, including a rendition of the national anthem.

Employees explored a heritage village showcasing elements of UAE culture, including a spice shop display, pottery, henna artistry, and traditional textiles. The Emirates Group Youth Council hosted an interactive booth with various activities for employees, while the Emirates Engineering team demonstrated a recycling process that transforms used paper into new notebooks.

Eid Al Etihad Flavours Onboard

All Emirates customers on flights departing Dubai on 2 and 3 December will receive an Emirati-inspired sweet treat in a mini giftbox, with the aircraft interior illuminated in the colours of the UAE flag.

  • First- and Business-Class customers will receive fig frangipane and gahwa tart.

  • Premium Economy customers will receive pistachio rahash tart and gahwa tart.

  • Economy Class customers will enjoy batheeth with white chocolate and pistachios.

At the Emirates A380 Onboard Lounge, customers can enjoy Arabic coffee paired with regional desserts including aseeda cake, date and cardamom cheesecake, pistachio rahash tart, saffron bundt cake with caramel cream frosting and hazelnut croquant, and chocolate and cardamom bundt cake.

Cultural Content on Emirates ice

Customers can explore a collection of more than 71 Arabic films and 32 Arabic TV shows, including Emirati titles such as Al Boom, Sawalef Yadouh, #ABTalks, and Al Mtwassf. Additional content from Shahid includes 220 Youm, Hmoud Wa Abouh, Al Sohba Al Holwa, and Hazza.

Arabic documentaries such as Al Emarat: Masiret Al Ezza’ W Al Enjaz are also available, along with 15 Arabic podcasts including Qassed Fazza, Al San’a, and Kursi Al Ethnain. Customers can listen to 151 Khaleeji albums and playlists featuring Emirati artists such as Hussain Al Jassmi, Hazza’ah Al Minhali, and Fayez Al Saeed.

Eid Al Etihad Dishes in Emirates Lounges

In the First Class Lounges in Dubai, customers can enjoy traditional Emirati dishes, including chicken machbous, lamb ouzi, and harees, accompanied by sides such as fried onions, cashew nut raitha, and dakkous. Desserts include karak profiteroles, Umm Ali spheres, lommie kabeese cheesecake, and bite-sized date mamoul, hazelnut kita, kunafa pistachio, and Emirati luqaimat.

In the Business Class Lounges, offerings include Emirati-style lamb ouzi made with locally sourced lamb, mint raitha, and dakkus, or chicken majboos with cucumber yoghurt sauce. Desserts include Arabic coffee delice, loomi and rose profiteroles, guerss ugaili cardamom sesame financiers, burnt gahwa chocolate tarts, and Emirati luqaimat.

Customers in both lounges can also enjoy Emirates’ ice-cream cart featuring locally inspired flavours such as baklava and Arabic coffee with dates.
