Emirates and OpenAI Begin Strategic Collaboration to Expand AI Use Across the Organization

Emirates and OpenAI have entered a strategic collaboration to support the adoption and development of AI across the airline. The partnership includes the enterprise-wide deployment of ChatGPT Enterprise, along with tailored AI literacy programmes, technical assessments, and executive-level alignment to help embed AI capabilities throughout the organization.

Ali Serdar Yakut, Executive Vice President IT at Emirates, said: “We see clear potential for AI technology to address business needs, support operational requirements, and enhance the customer experience. Working closely with OpenAI will help ensure our technology investments remain focused and scalable, enabling us to deliver value to our employees and customers.”

Rod Solaimani, Regional Director, MENA & Central Asia at OpenAI, said: “Emirates Group has outlined a clear vision for how AI can contribute to the future of aviation. Through this collaboration, we aim to support their efforts by integrating intelligence across operations, introducing new tools, and exploring opportunities to improve the travel experience.”

As part of the collaboration, Emirates and OpenAI will explore practical use cases, create an internal AI champion network, and establish an AI Centre of Excellence.

The work will focus on identifying opportunities to expand AI capabilities in skills, processes, and technology across the organization. Emirates will also gain early access to AI research and emerging developments, including participation in relevant government-led innovation programmes.

Both organizations will run leadership sessions to assess AI applications, strengthen executive support for initiatives, and provide visibility into OpenAI’s product roadmap for planning purposes.

Technology teams from both sides will work together to optimise the integration of OpenAI’s models, develop rapid prototyping frameworks, and create sandbox environments to support experimentation across various use cases.

Emirates continues to incorporate technology and innovation into its long-term strategy, aiming to develop practical and scalable solutions for travellers, communities, industry partners, and its group of brands and businesses.
